Our Technology

  • Membrane Bio-Reactors (MBR) have become recognized as a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment technology because of It can purify wastewater to produce the highest effluent water quality.

One of the many benefits of an MBR system is that it effectively overcomes the issues of poor settling flocs in conventional activated sludge as all treated wastewater is discharged via the membrane.

The Bio microbe MBR process therefore will always result in a very high quality of treated water that is virtually solids free.

MBR technology is increasingly popular in Indonesia for industrial wastewater treatment due to its small footprint, reliably and the ability for re-using wastewater.

  • Membrane bioreactors (MBRs) have several advantages over traditional wastewater treatment systems. They offer:

    1. Higher treatment efficiency,

    2. Smaller footprint, Thanks to the membrane filtration, there is a high biomass concentration contained in a small volume.

    3. Lower energy consumption

    4. Producing high-quality effluent given the small size of the membrane's pores, the effluent is clear and pathogen free.

    5. Easy Construction & operation: membrane bioreactors can be constructed & operated with a broad range of operation conditions.

    6. Compact process: compared to the Conventional Activated Sludge (CAS) process, membrane bioreactors are more compact.

    7. Consistent performance – mixed liquid suspended solids (MLSS), the water’s organic content, can be significantly greater than in CAS. A greater concentration of biomass results in the efficient removal of biodegradable materials.

    8. Large flux, pure water flux up to 1000L/m2.h, design flux 5-25L/m2.h

    9. Low Capital Cost & Operation Cost

  • The Conventional Activated Sludge Process (ASP) and the Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) are two common systems for treating wastewater, each with its own advantages and limitations.

ASP involves aeration and sedimentation to remove pollutants, followed by multiple treatment stages like clarification, filtration, and chemical processes. It is a well-established technology with large capacity and lower investment cost, making it suitable for industrial or municipal applications. However, it requires more land and produces only standard-quality effluent, which usually cannot be reused directly.

MBR, in contrast, combines biological treatment with membrane filtration, replacing the need for secondary clarifiers. It delivers clearer, pathogen-free water that can be safely reused, ideal for areas with limited water resources. MBR systems are more compact, needing less land, but involve higher capital and operational costs due to membrane maintenance.

In summary, ASP is cost-effective and widely used, but less efficient in terms of space and water quality. MBR offers superior output and space efficiency, making it ideal for modern facilities prioritizing water reuse and land optimization, despite its higher initial investment.
